Biography | show moreshow less
Twiggy is the professional name of singer/actress and model Lesley Hornby Lawson (b. 1949), who was a supermodel by the age of 16, helping to popularize the very thin look. Her film debut was The Boyfriend (1970), which earned two Golden Globe awards. She was nominated for a Tony for her role in the remake of the Gershwin musical My One and Only. Twiggy has released musical albums in several genres, from rock to country to show tunes. In 1988 she married British actor/director Leigh Lawson. In recent years, she has hosted two programs on the independent British TV network ITV. Twiggy, who released a new album of pop standards in 2011, is still in demand as a fashion model in her sixties - as the industry appeals to an older demographic.
