Virginia Field (1917-1992) performed on English and continental stages before turning to films. She took the screen name of Virginia in honor of General Robert E. Lee, her mother's cousin. She was featured in such movies as The Lady is Willing (1934), Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936), Waterloo Bridge (1940) and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1949). She appeared in several of the Mr. Moto films of the 1930s, and starred in the Broadway comedies The Doughgirls (1942) and Light Up the Sky (1948). She was married to actors Paul Douglas and Willard Parker, the latter lasting from 1951 until her death.
