Biography
Walter Abel was born on June 6, 1898, in St. Paul, Minnesota and he was an American stage, film, and television actor.
He studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, making his professional stage debut in 1918. His Broadway appearances included As You Like It, The Merchant of Venice, and Merrily We Roll Along. He transitioned into film in the early 1930s. One of Abel's most recognized screen roles was as D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers (1935). He also appeared in Fury (1936), directed by Fritz Lang, and Holiday Inn (1942), where he played the role of Danny Reed. Other notable film credits include Mr. Skeffington (1944), The Kid from Brooklyn (1946), Raintree County (1957), and Miracle in the Rain (1956).
