Signature: "Sigurd Anderson/Governor of South Dakota". 3¼x1¾ card. Anderson (1904-1990, born in Arendal, Norway) was the 19th governor of South Dakota. Anderson came to the United Stated when he was three. A Republican, served two terms as state Attorney General (1947-1951) before being elected to two terms as governor from 1951 to 1955. He served on the Federal Trade Commission after leaving the governor's office. Anderson tried to be re-elected governor in 1964, but lost the Republican candidacy to Nils Boe. Once elected governor, Boe appointed Anderson to fill a vacancy as circuit judge, a position he held until 1975. Lightly toned and stained. Paper clip impression at top edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
