Charles Sinclair Weeks (1893-1973) was Secretary of Commerce in the Eisenhower administration (1953-1958). A World War I veteran and businessman, Weeks had held other public offices as Mayor of Newton, Massachusetts (1930-1935), national treasurer of the Republican Party (1940-1944), and US Senator (1944). He was appointed to the US Senate to fill the unexpired term of Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., who had resigned to serve in World War II, but did not seek re-election. Sinclair Weeks' father, John Weeks (1860-1926), was a US Congressman and Senator from Massachusetts and US Secretary of War (1921-1925). Horizontal crease near forehead. Worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
