Sir Anthony Carlisle (1768-1840), an English surgeon and Fellow of the Royal Academy, introduced the thin-bladed, straight-edged amputating knife. He wrote on artistic and general scientific subjects as well as on medicine. Minor diagonal crease at the lower portion of the "A" in Anthony. Slightly soiled. Fine condition.
