ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE. ANS: "ACD.", 4½x3½ card. Kensington, no date. On his personal postcard with letterhead.Addressed by Doyle to: "The Box Office/Terry's Theatre/WC." In full: "Very glad if you could send me tickets c/o Mrs Hornung, 7 Hornton Street, Kensington. Many thanks!" Doyle was best known for his detective stories featuring Sherlock Holmes of 221 B Baker Street and his friend, Dr. Watson. The first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet, appeared in 1887, but the author "killed off" his detective in 1893 to write historical novels. Public demand for the resurrection of Holmes prompted Doyle to write The Hound of the Baskervilles, the first of several new Sherlock Holmes books that were published from 1902-1927. Nail-head stain at blank area above writing. Fine condition.
