Signature: "FCB", 2½x1½, Affixed to a 4x3¾ sheet bearing typed
caption. Francis Cowley "F. C." Burnand (1836-1917) was editor of
"Punch" magazine from 1880-1906. The British humorist and author also
collaborated with Arthur Sullivan on several works, including the
successful Cox and Box and The Contrabandista, which was edited to
become The Chieftain. Burnand, who is also known for his book,
Happy Thoughts, which was first printed in "Punch" between 1863-1864,
was knighted in 1902. Lightly toned and creased. Otherwise, fine
condition.
