Lawyer, actor and author Irving (1870-1919) is probably best remembered today for his book A Book of Remarkable Criminals (1918), on the lives, crimes and motivations of notable criminals. The son of legendary actor Sir Henry Irving, Henry Brodribb Irving also acted from 1891 to 1911, often in his father's most famous roles. He was admitted to the bar in 1894 and became a lawyer after retiring from the stage. He also founded Our Society, a "murder club" in London that discussed old crimes, in 1903 along with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and four other friends. Lightly toned, foxed, soiled and creased. Signature and body of letter have bled lightly in places but are legible. Folded thrice and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
