It has certainly never been reprinted and you are perfectly at liberty to use it. Yours sincerely". Slightly creased with mid-horizontal fold, not at signature. Lightly soiled. Irregular left edge, which has minor paper loss and binding holes from removal from bound book. Overall, fine condition. Accompanied by original envelope, 5½x3¾. 2 British stamps affixed, postmarked London, October 30, 1929. Addressed by Walpole to: "Mr. J. Conklin,/625 Lincoln Place,/Brooklyn,/New York City,/U.S.A." Lightly creased, slightly soiled. Torn open at back flap. Overall, fine condition. New Zealand-born British author and occasional actor Hugh Walpole (1884-1941) wrote the screenplay and appeared as the Vicar in the 1935 classic, David Copperfield. He was also the screenwriter for Little Lord Fauntleroy (1936) and is credited as the book or story author for Kind Lady, Vanessa and Vanessa, Her Love Story (all 1935), Mr. Perrin and Mr. Traill (1948) and Kind Lady (1951). He is also known for his Herries Chronicles, which include Rogue Herries (1930), Judith Paris (1931), The Fortress (1932) and Vanessa (1933). The main setting for the later book was Brackenburn, the home Walpole had purchased in 1923. He expanded Brackenburn to eventually house his library of over 30,000 books and his collection of paintings. Two items.
