I shall receive with great pleasure in my place your copy of the work for the Royal Society." English chemist Sir Humphry Davy made inroads in electrochemistry, discovered the elements sodium, potassium, calcium and barium, discovered the exhilarating effect of nitrous oxide when inhaled, explained the bleaching action of chlorine and invented a safe coal miner's lamp. The year this letter was written was the centennial year of the death of English architect Sir Christopher Wren (1632-1723). Inlaid. Folds, vertical fold touches "H". Lightly creased.
