(4¾x3¾) hand addressed by Fayrer to "Dr Russell Reynolds". Sir
Joseph Fayrer (1824-1907), an English surgeon, served the British military in
campaigns in the Mediterranean and South Asia. He taught surgery at the
Medical College in Calcutta (1859-1872). A member of the Royal Society who
was made a baron in 1896, Fayrer wrote extensively on Indian medical
practices and on the poisonous snakes of that country.
Lightly soiled. Penmanship very difficult to decipher. Otherwise, fine
condition.
