JULIAN HUXLEY
English biologist thanks writer Anita Loos for her gift and writes that he regrets Nixon's reelection.

The combination of you & Helen Hayes is wonderful - - I do look forward to reading it - - that will be one of my Christmas treats. At the moment terribly busy, with Juliette as reviser of my creation & myself as first corrector of the galleys of Vol. 2 of my autobiography, 'Memories' - - the publisher had promised it wld (sic) appear early in April, and now say May...We are now Great-great-grandparents, our elder son's (Anthony's) eldest daughter has married a very nice & competent young man called Ray who is I.C.I.'s representative in Turkey as his father was the British Consul in Istanbul, & Ray speaks fluent Turkish. We are going to see his baby - now over 8 (or is it 9?) months old this afternoon...We followed your election campaign with interest- - & with regret over the outcome (I once met R.N. when candidate for the Vice Presidency - & didn't take to him)...." SIR JULIAN HUXLEY is best known as a biologist and ecologist. His early interests were in development and growth, genetics and embryology. Later he made important studies of bird behavior, studied evolution and wrote many popular scientific books. ANITA LOOS wrote many film scripts and novels, including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes in 1925.
