RANULPH FIENNES
A copy of his book The Headless Valley, signed by the author and adventurer on the title page and dated 1990. Extremely rare!
Book signed: "Ranulph Fiennes/1990", in blue felt tip, 6x9. 221 pages, hardcover with dust jacket. Ranulph Fiennes (b. 1944) is an English adventurer and author, being the first person to visit both the North and South Poles by surface means and the first to completely cross Antarctica on foot. Fiennes served in the British Army for eight years (partly at the influence of his father), but by the end of his service had become disillusioned, despite his rather decorated career as an officer in the army of the Sultan of Oman. After his time in the military was over, Fiennes began his adventuring career, first embarking on an expedition up the White Nile on a hovercraft in 1969. He has achieved a prolific amount of recognition for his expeditions, with the most famous being his Artic explorations. In between his expeditions and travels, Fiennes has written 19 fiction and non-fiction books, including the controversial The Feather Men(1991). His honors include the Polar Medal, several honorary doctorates, and an appointment as Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Corners and edges of dust jacket lightly worn and creased. Fine condition.
