In full: "Thank you very much for your letter inviting me to assist with the judging of your "Miss Thames Valley" Contest on Saturday, 31st August at 10:30 p.m. I am afraid I am unable to accept, as my wife and I, together with our family leave for our holiday in the South of France on August 29th. With every good wish for a most successful evening." British actor Attenborough (1923-2014), knighted in 1976, has been equally praised as an actor and director. Acclaimed acting roles include Brighton Rock (1947), The Great Escape (1963), The Sand Pebbles (1966), Jurassic Park (1993) and Elizabeth (1998). Directorial successes include A Bridge Too Far (1977), Gandhi (1982), Cry Freedom (1987) and Shadowlands (1993). He is the brother of naturalist David Attenborough. File hole at upper left corner.
