STEWART "SKIP" ALEXANDER
Inscribed photo, finishing an iron shot
Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Jimmy/Lots of Luck/Skip Alexander". .  B/w 7¾x10.  Stewart Murray "Skip" Alexander (1918-1997) led Duke to 3 Southern Conference collegiate golf titles before turning pro in 1941 and joining the PGA Tour in 1946. He won 3 PGA events. In 1950, he was the lone survivor of a plane crash, burned over 70% of his body. After 17 operations, including one giving him a fixed grip on a golf club, he returned to play. In the 1951 Ryder Cup, paired against British champion John Panton and given no chance to win, he won the match - both hands bleeding - by the widest margin in Ryder Cup history. Corners and edges slightly worn and soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
