Stewart Murray "Skip" Alexander (1918-1997) led Duke to 3 Southern Conference collegiate
golf titles before turning pro in 1941 and joining the PGA Tour in 1946. He won 3 PGA
events. In 1950, he was the lone survivor of a plane crash, burned over 70% of his body.
After 17 operations, including one giving him a fixed grip on a golf club, he returned to
play. In the 1951 Ryder Cup, paired against British champion John Panton and given no
chance to win, he won the match - both hands bleeding - by the widest margin in Ryder Cup
history. Corners and edges slightly worn and soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
