Roanoke, Virginia, 1947 January 3. On letterhead of Radio Station WDBJ to
"Dear Friend", in full: "Received your song and would like to
have more to feature here. Am sending a write-up for use in the mags as you
requested. [Item not included.] If possible, please send me a copy of the
mag in which the write-up appears. It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again
and best of luck to you. From". George "Sleepy" Jeffers (1922-1992)
was a country and rockabilly singer, often recording with a female duet,
The Davis Twins. He was better known however as a popular local radio host
and disc jockey, first in his native West Virginia and later at stations in
Virginia and South Carolina. He also hosted a popular children's program, using
the name of Uncle Willie. Multiple mailing folds. Minor stains not effecting
signature. Corners lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
