SLIM ANDREWS
The zany Western film sidekick and children's television star signs

plays
Inscribed photograph signed: "To/Cicero-/We had a swell/day and
consider it/a pleasure to get in your/'gallery'/'Slim'/Andrews/1945" in blue
ink. Sepia, 10x8. Slim Andrews (1906-1992) was best known for his
roles as a sidekick to popular 1940s and 50s western film stars, as well as his
later role as the host of children's television programs. At a slender
6'8'', "Slim" could play over 100 instruments and traveled as a one-man band
before moving to Hollywood, where he would appear in Westerns such as
Rhythm of the Rio Grande (1940), Take Me Back to
Oklahoma (1940), Dynamite Canyon (1941), Cowboy
Serenade (1942) and Buffalo Bill in Tomahawk Territory
(1952). With the decline of B-westerns, Andrews found his niche in
children's television, working throughout the country for the next thirty years.
Toned. Pin sized holes throughout. Edges and corners slightly worn. Surface
