SONG OF ARIZONA MOVIE CAST
Shug Fisher and Tommy Cook sign their names to a fan on a colorized
14x11 lobby card for Song of Arizona. Also signed by Bob Nolan's
wife as "Mrs. Bob Nolan"
Inscribed lobby card signed: "To Clint/my pal-/Best of
Everything/Tommy/Cook", "To Clint/My Best/Shug Fisher", "The touch of/God's
hand/to Clint/Mrs. Bob Nolan", Colorized 14x11. American western actor
George SHUG FISHER (1907-1984) amassed over 80 films in his 40 year
career, most notably as "Shug", member of the Sons of the Pioneers (as
featured in Don't Fence me in (1945), Song of
Arizona (1946) and Lights of Ol Santa Fe (1944) among
others). On television he was known as Charlie Kern in Ripcord
(1961-1963) and he also had a few reoccurring appearances on Daniel
Boone. He was a regular guest star on Bonanza (1961-1970), The
Beverly Hillbillies (1979-1970) the Virginian (1965-1971) and
Gunsmoke (1962-1974). Fisher worked well into his senior years, making
his final appearance in Harper Valley P.T.A. (1982). Child actor TOMMY COOK
(b. 1930) had the major roles of "Little Beaver" in the first Red
Ryder serial and on radio (1940-1945), and of "Kimba" in Jungle Girl
(in the "Perils of Nyoka" series). He was typecast, however, as an exotic ethnic
character, and - despite good looks and talent - didn't find many adult roles. A
fine tennis player, he found another career after movies: hosting celebrity
charity sports events. Bob Nolan, who appeared in the 1946 film, did not
sign the document; however, his wife Clara Estelle Brown (1911-1994)
signed on his behalf. Affectionately nicknamed "P-Nuts" for her small stature,
the two remained married until Nolan's death in 1980. Corner slightly worn. Pin
holes in corners and bottom margin. Stain on bottom margin. Slightly soiled
across. Ink notes (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
