SONG WITHOUT END MOVIE CAST: DIRK BOGARDE, CAPUCINE
Black and white still from Song Without End, signed by Dirk Bogarde and Capucine.
Photograph signed: "Dirk Bogarde" "Best Wishes/Capucine". B/w, 10x8. After service with the British Army in European and Pacific theaters of World War II, Bogarde pursued an acting career which included villains, leading men, and a variety of character parts. Six times nominated by the British Academy as Best Actor, he won twice (for The Servant, 1963; and Darling (1965). Among his other prominent films were The Sea Shall Not Have Them, A Tale of Two Cities (as Sidney Carton, 1958), HMS Defiant (1958), Death in Venice (1971) and A Bridge Too Far (1977). He was knighted in 1992. International stardom arrived for Capucine (1933-1990) when she starred as Princess Carolyne in the 1960 biopic Song Without End. She achieved notoriety for her role of a lesbian hooker in 1962's A Walk on the Wild Side. Capucine went on to appear in The Lion (1962), The Seventh Dawn (1964), and was given a chance to display her comic know-how in the original 1964 The Pink Panther. Twenty years later she recreated her role for one of the post-Peter Sellers Panther sequels. After years spent in seclusion, Capucine committed suicide by leaping from her 8th floor Swiss apartment. Lightly bowed. Toned around edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
