SPACE SHUTTLE ATLANTIS: STS-81 MISSION

Commemorative Envelope signed: "Michael Baker", "Brent Jett", "John Grunsfeld", "Marsha Ivins", "Peter Wisoff", "John Blaha", 6½x3½, postmarked Kennedy Space Center, January 12, 1997. Space shuttle mission STS-81, the 81st flight of a space shuttle, was launched from Kennedy Space Center on January 12, 1997 and returned safely to the same site on January 22. This was the fifth visit of a US shuttle to the Russian space station Mir, exchanging a crew member, carrying supplies and equipment to the station, and completed experiments home. The crew included Commander MICHAEL BAKER; Pilot BRENT W. JETT, JR.; and Mission Specialists JOHN GRUNSFELD, MARSHA IVINS, PETER WISOFF and JOHN BLAHA. Although postmarked on the launch date, this piece is signed by the six who returned ten days later. Jerry Linegar traveled to the Mir to replace signer John Blaha, returning to Earth after 4 months on the space station. Fine condition.
