Five crewmembers sign this commemorative envelope honoring the 1988 Earth stamp
Commemorative Envelope signed: "Vance Brand", "Guy Gardner", "Ron Parisi", "Sam Durrance", "Mike Lounge" 6½x3½. Postmarked Kennedy Space Center, December 2, 1990. "E" Earth stamp affixed. Space shuttle mission STS-35, the 38th shuttle mission and the tenth for Columbia, was launched the Kennedy Space Center on December 2, 1990, and returned Edwards Air Force Base on December 10. The mission was devoted to astronomical observations using ASTRO-1, a Spacelab observatory composed of four telescopes. Secondary projects included communication with amateur radio transmitters on Earth, and a Space Classroom Program utilizing ASTRO-1. VANCE D. BRAND (b.1931) was mission Commander and GUY S. GARDNER (b.1948) the Pilot. Mission Specialist MIKE LOUNGE (1946-2011) along with Payload Specialists SAMUEL T. DURRANCE (b.1943) and RONALD A. PARISE (1951-2008) have all signed. Also on the flight were mission specialists Jeffrey Hoffman and Robert Parker. Fine condition.
