Edwards Air Force Base, November 1, 1993. Space shuttle mission STS-58,
aboard Columbia, launched from the Kennedy Space Center on October 18,
1993 and returned to Edwards Air Force Base on November 1. This mission was
dedicated to life sciences research, with the crew performing experiments
focused on the human body's adaptation to weightlessness. Forty-eight lab rats
accompanied the human crew on this flight. The crew included Commander JOHN
BLAHA; Pilot RICHARD A. SEARFOSS; Payload Commander M. RHEA
SEDDON and Mission Specialists WILLIAM S. McARTHUR, DAVID M. WOLF and
SHANNON W. LUCID; and Payload Specialist MARTIN J. FETTMAN. Fine
condition.
