Commemorative Envelope signed: "J. O. Creighton", "Ken Reightler", "Jim Buchli", "Mark Brown", "Sam Gemar", 6½x3½. Envelope postmarked Kennedy Space Center, September 12, 1991. Space shuttle mission STS-48, the 43rd orbital flight and the thirteenth flight of Discovery, was launched from Kennedy Space Center on September 12, 1991 and returned to Edwards Air Force Base on September 18. The primary payload was the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, designed to study human effects on the planet's atmosphere and its shielding ozone layer. The crew was composed of Commander JOHN O. CREIGHTON; Pilot KENNETH S. REIGHTLER, JR.; AND Mission Specialists JAMES F. BUCHLI, CHARLES D. "SAM" GEMAR and MARK N. BROWN. It was the first spaceflight for Reightler, the second for Gemar and Brown, the third for Creighton and the fourth for Buchli. Fine condition.
