Commemorative envelope signed: "Fred Haise" and
"Gordon Fullerton", 6½X3½. Commemorative envelope for the Space Shuttle
Enterprise, 13-cent Liberty Tree embossed envelope, postmarked
Edwards, California, June 17, 1977. The cachet pictures the shuttle and
astronauts Haise and Fullerton and their facsimile signatures. Imprinted at
lower margin: "Space Shuttle Astronauts, Fred Haise and Gordon Fullerton. Flight
aborted due to computer problems." In 1977, FRED HAISE (b.1936)
commanded the space shuttle Enterprise five times as part of the Approach
and Landing Test Program at Edwards Air Force Base. Haise was the Lunar Module
Pilot on the aborted Apollo 13 mission in 1970. In 1977, Fullerton
piloted the Space Shuttle Enterprise prototype for the Approach and
Landing Test Program at Dryden. GORDON FULLERTON (1936-2013) piloted
Columbia STS-3 on its eight-day test mission (March 22-30, 1982) and was
Commander of the STS-51F Spacelab 2 mission. Slightly soiled. Pencil note
on verso (unknown hand). Fine condition.
