SPIKE JONES, HELEN GRAYCO JONES and OTHERS. Inscribed signatures: "To Hildegard-/This is really/a thrill-/Thank you -/Spike Jones", "Hildegard -/Your (sic) Fabulous/Sincerely/Helen Grayco Jones", "Sincerely/Ralph Wonder" and, on verso: "Vous etes quelque chose/Magnifique -/Vivian Kearns/Seattle" and "Hildergarde (sic)/You were lovely/Gus Edward Ledbetter/Seattle". SPIKE JONES (1911-1965) and his band, The City Slickers, were capable musicians who specialized in parodying classical and popular tunes. They would often play the first half of a show straight, then reappear in strange costumes with weird instruments. It was said that you hadn't really arrived as a musical star until you had been skewered by Jones. RALPH WONDER was president of Arena Stars, the agency that represented Spike Jones. HELEN GRAYCO was vocalist with Jones' band. Married to Jones, she appeared with him on The Spike Jones Show (1954) and released her own album, After Midnight (1957). Light show through of ink at signatures. Irregular right edge from removal from bound book. Overall, fine condition.
