group of American airman held in a Nazi prisoner of war camp who come to suspect that one
of them is a traitor. It was adapted from a Broadway play written by two actual prisoners of
war. The film was distributed by paramount pictures and was produced and directed by Billy
Wilder. PETER GRAVES (1926-2010), born Peter Aurness, appeared in 130 movies, TV
shows and video games between 1951 and 2010, but is probably best known as James
Phelps, the leader of an elite covert operations unit on the weekly TV adventure series
Mission: Impossible(1967-1973). The role earned him a Golden Globe in 1971 and an
Emmy Award nomination. (He reprised Phelps in a revamp of the series, which lasted from
1988 to 1990) Modern audiences may also know him as a presenter on the long-running
documentary series Biography(1994-2006). Graves often played straight-arrow,
authoritative figures, which the team of Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker brilliantly lampooned with
Captain Clarence "Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?" Oveur in Airplane!(1980)
and its sequel Airplane II: The Sequel(1982). Graves paid his dues in a long string of B
movies before Mission: Impossible. One of his more memorable roles from this period was a
Nazi spy in the war movie classic Stalag 17(1953). But Mystery Science Theatre 3000 fans
may also recognize Graves from no less than five movies savaged by Joel, Mike and the 'bots:
It Conquered the World (1956), Beginning of the End (1957), Attack of the Eye Creatures
(1965), SST: Death Flight (1977) and Parts: The Clonus Horror (1979). He was the younger
brother of actor James Arness. GIL STRATTON (1922-2008) was born in Brooklyn, New
York. Beginning his acting career as a teenager Stratton debuted on Broadway in the George
Abbot musical Best Foot Forwardwhen he was 19. After seeing his Broadway performance
MGM hired him as a contract player and he was cast in his first film Girl Crazy (1943) in
which he sung a duet with Judy Garland. His film career took a short hiatus during World
War II when he enlisted in the Army Air Forces. After the war he returned to film and
appeared in many films including Stalag 17 (1953), The Wild One (1954) and Bundle of
Joy (1956). He also spent a number of years working in television and radio. After being
hired as a sportscaster in 1954, he continued to work in the field until his retirement in
1997. RICHARD ERDMAN (1925-2019) wan an American film and television actor and
director. He worked in the entertainment industry for seventy years. In 1953 he appeared in
Stalag 17 as Hoffy the barracks chief. In the classic Twilight Zone episode A Kind of
Stopwatch he plays a man who is giving a stop watch that can freeze time, unfortunately he
breaks the watch, leaving him frozen in time. In the ABC sitcom The Ray Bolger Show
Erdman co-starred as Pete Morrisey, Ray's landlord and agent. He continues to the time of
this writing to appear in minor roles in television shows including The Dick Van Dyke
Show, Wings and Community. Fine condition.
