Autograph note signed: "Stanley Baxter", in black ink, 3½x5½.
April 16, 1979. In full: "For David Wood, Thank you for your letter,
and the great compliment that it is implied by it. I enclose a signed photo
better than just an autograph [item not included]. Hope you like it.
Sincerely". An award winning Scottish actor and impressionist, Stanley
Baxter (b. 1926) was known for his work on British television shows,
composing a career that lasted 40 plus years. Beginning as a child actor on
BBC's Children Hour, Baxter eventually went on to land his own radio show
on BBC Radio Scotland, which aided to his fame and popularity. His
popularity peaked in the 1970's, having his own show titled The Stanley
Baxter Show (1963), in addition to several other television specials bearing
his name. In recent years, Baxter has more or less retired from the
entertainment business, but does still make sporadic appearances on television
specials. Fine condition.
