B/w image with a color background, 7¾x10. Actor and dancer, writer and
producer Stanley Lupino (1893-1942) was an acrobat before debuting on
London stages in pantomimes (1920). Soon he reached stardom in musicals like
the hit Sporting Love (1934). He also wrote and starred in his own
plays (So This is Love, 1929), a pattern he repeated in films of
the 1930s. He was also heard frequently on the BBC, and wrote an
autobiography, From the Stocks to the Stars (1934). Lupino's illustrious
acting family included his daughter, Ida Lupino. One horizontal fold.
