Check Endorsed: "Stanley Neufeld/NY Bank for Savings/for deposit only", 8½x3½. New York, N. Y., 1972 March 14. Check #659, drawn on Formosa Productions at Franklin National Bank, payable to Stanley Neufeld for $60. Stanley Neufeld, the son of B-movie producer Sigmund Neufeld, was assistant director on the movie churned out by his father's Poverty Row studio, PRC, many having his older brother Sam Neufeld as principal director. Stanley's first contribution was to Lightning Raiders, starring Buster Crabbe (1945). Crabbe later quit the studio, replaced by Lash Larue, and complained of PRC's low wages for the rest of his life. Stanley Neufeld, however, went on to a successful TV career independent of his father, but still working as assistant or second unit director on adventure series of the 1950s, mostly Westerns (The Range Rider, Ramar of the Jungle, Gene Autry, Annie Oakley, Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans. He was assistant director for 93 episodes of Naked City (1960-1963). He worked on feature films through the 1970s, concluding with A Man, A Woman and a Bank (1979). Another brother, Sigmund Neufeld, Jr., was also a TV and feature film director. Bank processing stamps on front and verso (lightly affecting signature, still legible). Otherwise, fine condition. A portion of the screen image has been obscured to protect sensitive information. The original check does not contain these concealing marks.
