STAR TREK CAST, CO-SIGNED BY: WILLIAM SHATNER AND LEONARD NIMOY
Signatures of the co-stars in the original Star Trek series
Autograph Sentiment signed: "Best Wishes,/Leonard Nimoy", "William Shatner", 8x5 card. Star Trek, the original series (often called "Classic Trek") ran on NBC from 1966-1969. It followed the crew of the Federation starship Enterprise, on "a 5-year mission to seek out new life and new civilization, to boldly go where no man has gone before." The original series was cancelled after three seasons, but maintained high ratings in syndication, and generated for its renewal. Now, almost half a century later, there have been four more TV series and 12 feature films. WILLIAM SHATNER (b. 1931) is an American actor. Star Trek (1966-1969) was the first of his three successful television series. He then starred in a police drama, T. J. Hooker (1982-1987) and hosted the medical reality series Rescue 911 (1989-1995). He reprised the role of Captain Kirk of the Federation Starship Enterprise, first as the voice in an animated series (1973), and thereafter in seven feature films (1979-1994). Other acting credits include Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), Miss Congeniality (2000) and one of the most popular episodes of the original Twilight Zone: "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet." In 1965, Gene Roddenberry signed LEONARD NIMOY (1931-2015) to play Vulcan science officer Spock on the TV series Star Trek. At first pleased at the assignment, Nimoy came to resent the fact that the public perceived him as Spock and nothing else: indeed, one of his many written works was the slim autobiography I Am Not Spock. In 1978, Nimoy was back in his Enterprise uniform in the first of several Star Trek theatrical features. The Spock character was killed off in the second Trek picture, but - this being science fiction - reborn in the third one. He went on to direct such non-Trek film endeavors as 3 Men and a Baby (1987), The Good Mother (1988), Funny About Love (1990) and Holy Matrimony (1994). He also produced and acted in the 1991 TV movie Never Forget. Leonard Nimoy now seems resigned to being forever associated with the role that brought him international fame; his most recent autobiographical work was aptly titled I Am Spock. Slightly creased. Slightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
