No. 1./Tierney plays second fiddle to a poodle/so he frowns[arrow]/Larry Tierney".Sepia,
9½X7¾. Lawrence Tierney and Anne Jeffreys meet by accident on a California beach
and as a result both become involved in a Nazi plot in this scene from the 1946 film.
Trained in voice at an early age, ANNE JEFFREYS (1923-2017)had her first movie role in
the tuneful Rodgers & Hart adaptation of I Married an Angel (1942). After appearing in a series
of "B" westerns and crimers, she turned to symphonic and stage work including Tosca, Street
Scene and the Broadway musical My Romance. Jeffreys and her husband, Robert Sterling,
appeared in the TV version of Topper, television's first fantasy sitcom (1953-1955). A one-time
model with a long rap sheet of less-than-ideal behavior, character actor LAWRENCE
TIERNEY (1919-2002) nevertheless managed to amass scores of film credits over a
five-decade acting career before he passed away in 2002. Tierney sealed his fame, and his
image, with his performance as the eponymous gangster in the superb B-picture Dillinger
(1945). Cashing in on Dillinger's success, RKO slotted Tierney into numerous tough guy roles.
Tierney's most memorable late-career performance, however, was his no-nonsense, dryly funny
criminal mastermind Joe Cabot in Quentin Tarantino's heist film Reservoir Dogs (1992). Glue
stains show through from movie credit affixed on verso. 3 file nicks along bottom edge. Irregular
edges.
