STEPHEN KING
Publicity photograph for his 1987 thriller, Misery.
Photograph inscribed and signed: "For Dr. Alfred Kaiser -/With very best wishes -/Stephen King/1-14-88". B/w, 5x7 overall, image 4½x5¾ (one surface). ©1987, Thomas Victor. Captioned at lower margin: "Stephen King, author of MISERY, to be published by Viking on June 8, 1987 at $18.95. Misery, which was published in 1987, was released as a feature film in 1990. Nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Horror film, Misery starred James Caan as a famous novelist who is "rescued" after an automobile accident and Kathy Bates, who won the Best Actress Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her roll as his obsessed fan. In 1988, the year he signed this photograph, King published The Tommyknockers, which was released as an Emmy Award-nominated made-for-TV movie in 1993. Prolific horror writer Stephen King (born in 1947) burst onto the scene with Carrie (1974), which, like many of his other works, was adapted for the big screen. His other books include 'Salem's Lot (1975), The Shining (1977), Cujo (1981), Pet Sematary (1983), Dolores Claiborne (1993), The Green Mile (1996) and Dreamcatcher (2000), and King has also written acclaimed short stories as well as novels under the pen name of Richard Bachman. Slightly creased at corners. Minor surface creases and impressions (most not evident head on), light vertical crease at facial image. Overall, fine condition.
