Steve Cauthen (b.1960) is a retired American jockey who became the youngest jockey to win the Triple Crown in 1978 at the age of 18. While he made world history that year, 1977 proved to be his most accomplished season. He became the first jockey to win $6 million in a single season, led the league in wins with 487, and was named Sportsman of the Year by Sports Illustrated, Sporting News, Associated Press (Male Athlete of the Year), and ABC Wide World of Sports (Athlete of the Year). He also earned the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Apprentice Jockey and the Eclipse Award for Outstanding Jockey. He achieved all this success in just his second professional season. In 1994, Cauthen was inducted into the United States Racing Hall of Fame. Fine condition.
