Steven Chu (b. 1948) of Stanford University was co-recipient with William Phillips and Claude Cohen-Tannoudji of the 1997 Nobel Prize in Physics "for development of methods to cool and trap atoms with laser light." Chu dubbed this process "optical molasses." Chu continues cutting edge research in atomic, biological and polymer physics. Fine condition.
