STEWART GRANGER
Stewart Granger sends back to the Las Vegas Home for Battered and Abused Women some updated signed photographs.
Autograph Note signed: "Stewart Granger", ¼p, 8½x11. No place, no date. To Sherry Sussman, Las Vegas, Nevada. Handwritten response to a request for Stewart Granger to sign and send back photographs to the Las Vegas Home for Battered and Abused Women. Granger's response in full: "Thought I would enclose a few updated ones. Amusing here what 32 years does to a face!! Best wishes," [not included]. British actor Stewart Granger (1913-1993), who was born James Stewart but changed his name to avoid confusion with the Hollywood actor of the same name, was a top romantic leading man in Britain (along with James Mason) before coming to Hollywood, where he was usually cast as a rugged "he-man". Granger, who appeared in Cukor's The Prisoner of Zenda (1952), starred in a number of other feature films, including Caesar and Cleopatra (1946), King Solomon's Mines (1950), Beau Brummel (1954), North to Alaska (1960) and Sodom and Gomorrah (1962), and in TV movies. He was married to actress Jean Simmons from 1950-1960. Fine condition.
