STILL OF THE NIGHT MOVIE CAST: MERYL STREEP and ROY SCHEIDER The two cast members signed this black and white publicity photograph for the 1982 film Still Of The Night Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "Meryl Streep" and "Roy Scheider", B/w 8x10. Publicity photograph for the 1982 film Still Of The Night. Actress Meryl Streep (b. 1949) made her screen, Broadway, and Off-Broadway debuts in the mid-1970s and has earned dozens of major award nominations since then across all three industries. While she has predominantly performed on the big screen, she received a Primetime Emmy Award for her work in the 1978 mini-series Holocaust. On stage, Streep more often performs Off-Broadway than on Broadway. She received an Obie Award in 1981 for Alice in Concert (1980-1981). Streep's Broadway work includes A Memory of Two Mondays / 27 Wagons Full of Cotton (1976). Her first major film role came in Michael Cimino's breakthrough directorial effort The Deer Hunter (1978), which starred Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken. She received her first Golden Globe nomination and her first Academy Award nomination for her performance; since then, she has received many more. Her Oscar Award wins include Best Actress for Sophie's Choice (1982) and The Iron Lady (2011), while her Golden Globe wins include Best Performance in Julie & Julia (2009) and Best Actress in The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981). Other notable film roles include Out of Africa (1985), The Hours (2002), and The Devil Wears Prada (2006). In 1998, she was honored with a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Roy Scheider (1932-2008, born in Orange, New Jersey) is an American actor with over 80 TV shows and movies to his credit, but will probably be best remembered for his leading role as Police Chief Martin Brody in Jaws (1975). Trained in college dramatics, he made his professional stage debut in 1961, playing Mercutio in the New York Shakespeare festival production of Romeo and Juliet. He spent several years in repertory playing mainly classic roles, winning an Obie in 1968. His first film appearance came in 1964's Curse of the Living Corpse. Scheider starred in several movies, including The French Connection (1971, as Detective Buddy Russo_ and The Seven Ups (1973), before his appearance in Jaws, which only increased his star power. He went on to appear in Marathon Man (1976), Blue Thunder (1982) and 2010 (1984). His television credits include the lead in SeaQuest DSV from 1993 to 1995. He continued working until his death, with two movies, Iron Cross (2009) and Dark Honeymoon (2008), in post-production when he passed away. He earned two Oscar nominations during his career.
