STORY MUSGRAVE
Shown in space suit, holding his helmet
Printed photograph inscribed and signed: "To Gary Lorenz/Best Wishes/and good luck/Story/Musgrave." Color, 8x10.Physician, electrical engineer and test pilot Story Musgrave (b. 1935), who had flown 160 types of aircraft, was accepted into NASA's scientist-astronaut program in 1967. He was Capsule Communicator on two Skylab and six Space Shuttle missions before going into space himself as a mission specialist on six shuttle missions (1983-1996). He walked in space to make repairs on the Hubble Space Telescope in 1993. Until former Mercury astronaut and US Senator John Glenn returned to space in 1998, Musgrave was the oldest person to fly in space. Musgrave, now a consultant and public speaker, severely faults NASA and Washington for a lack of vision in development of space programs. Corners slightly worn. Ink print on verso. Fine condition.
