STRATOVARIUS: JENS JOHANSSON. Photograph signed: "Jens". B/w with blue hue, 10x8 overall, image 8x6½ (one surface). Publicity photograph. Captioned at upper margin: "Welcome to/Elements Pt. 2." Group's name and website imprinted at lower right. Elements Pt. 2, which included the hit single, "I Walk To My Own Song", was released in 2003, the same year that the first album in the two-suite project, Elements Pt. 1, was released. Renowned keyboardist and pianist Jens Johansson (born in 1963 in Stockholm), the son of Swedish jazz pianist Jan Johansson and the brother of heavy metal drummer Anders Johansson, joined the Finnish power metal band, Stratovarius, in 1995. The band, which was founded in Helsinki in 1984 under the name Black Water underwent a number of personnel and style changes before finding success with their third album, Dreamscape, in 1994 and then Fourth Dimension in 1995, shortly before Johansson joined the group. Johansson's contributions were evident on the group's next popular album, Episode, which included two of the group's biggest hits, "Father Time" and "Will the Sun Rise". Although the band broke up in 2003, most of that lineup reunited in 2005. Johansson had previously co-founded The Johansson Brothers, a progressive blues metal project, and he has released several instrumental solo recordings. He is also the co-founder of Heptagon Records, which releases his own recordings as well as the records of guitarist Benny Jansson and bassist Magnus Rosén. Ink lightly beaded. Slightly creased at blank margins and corners. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Fine condition.
