Typed letter signed: "Stu/Hample", in red ink, 1 page, 6x5¼. No place, December 3, 1978. On his personal letterhead, to "Dear Sandra", in full: "Thanks for your letter. Here's the autograph you asked for. And in addition, I have asked King Features Syndicate to send you an original WOODY ALLEN cartton [sic] for framing. I hope you like it. Your friend." Cartoonist and author Stuart "Stu" Hample (1926-2010) is best known for his books Children's Letters to God (with Eric Marshall) and The Silly Book. He is also the creator of the comic strip Inside Woody Allen which ran from 1976-1984. Also a playwright and performer, he went by many aliases, including Stoo Hample, Joe Marthen and Turner Brown, Jr. On television he wrote for the series Kate & Allie (1984-1985), and he acted in Birthday House (1963) and Puccini for Beginners (2006). Signature lightly beaded but legible. Normal mailing folds. Corners creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
