September 24. On personal letterhead to John Buchanan, Markham, Ontario, Canada. In
full: "Thanks for writing. It was nice hearing from you again. Ask your local theatre manager
when he will be showing my latest picture, 'The Sweet Hunter,' which just won the Venice Film
Festival Award. Good luck, and let us hear from you from time to time. Sincerely". Stuart
Whitman (1928-2020) moved from supporting roles in movies like When Worlds Collide
(1951), Ten North Frederick(1958) and These Thousand Hills (1959), to starring roles
with John Wayne in The Comancheros (1961), in The Mark (Oscar nomination, 1961), in
The Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines(1965), and in his own TV series, the
90-minute Cimarron Strip (1967). He was seen frequently on TV, as in four 1980s episodes
of Murder, SheWrote. Whitman planted Hollywood's first inter-racial kiss on Dorothy
Dandridge in The Decks Ran Red (1958). He played Clark Kent's father on Superboy
(1988-1992). His last credited role was in the Chuck Norris vehicle The President's Man
(2000). Lightly creased and soiled at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
