SUNSET CARSON, CO-SIGNED BY: FRED L. "THE SINGING BUCKAROO" SCOTT
The two actors are shown at a later age in this candid 5x7 photograph with Scott's wife
Inscribed photograph signed in ink: "To Clint/God Bless/Sunset/Carson" and "Hi!/Clint!/Fred & Mary/Scott" in black ink. 5x6¾. Rodeo rider Winifred Maurice Harrison (1920-1990) was given the name Sunset Carson by Republic Studios, for whom he starred in a number of western films in the mid-1940s. He starred in his own film series, beginning with The Sheriff of Cimarron (1945). He was later a popular guest at B Western nostalgia shows, and hosted a TV film revival series, Six Gun Heroes. Former vaudeville entertainer and opera singer Fred Scott (1902-1992), who had appeared in some Mack Sennett comedies of the silent film era, gained popularity as "the Silvery-Voiced Buckaroo" in low-budget Western movies of the 1930s. His highest rated films at All-Movie guide were The Roaming Cowboy, The Rangers' Roundup and Knight of the Plains, all from the late 1930s. Lightly toned. Corners slightly rounded. Otherwise, fine condition.
