B/w publicity photo of Anton from the 1979 film Goldengirl
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Anne./The best for you/Susan Anton". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 5½x8¼ (one surface). Publicity still for her 1979 debut film, Goldengirl, in which Anton starred as Goldine Serafin. Anton was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best New Star of the Year - Female for her role in this film, which co-starred James Coburn, Curt Jurgens, Leslie Caron and Robert Culp. ©1979, Avco Embassy Pictures Corp. Captioned at lower margin. This film, originally planned as a two-part made-for-TV movie to run during the 1980 Olympics, was re-edited and released theatrically when the U.S. pulled out of the competition. In the year of Goldengirl's release, Anton also appeared in the made-for-TV film, The Girl Who Saved the World, and in two short-lived series, Presenting Susan Anton and Stop Susan Williams (title role). Singer/actress Susan Anton (born in 1950), a former Miss California (1969), appropriately made her television debut in the made-for-TV movie, The Great American Beauty Contest. Anton's other feature films include Cannonball Run II (1984), Lena's Holiday (1990) and Whistlin' Dixie (2004), and she has made guest appearances on a number of television shows from 1976 (Serpico) to 2003 (Ask Rita). A multitalented singer and dancer, Anton has appeared on Broadway and on stages across the country, including over 5,000 performances in The Great Radio City Music Hall Spectacular in Las Vegas. Anton, who got her first big break appearing in commercials as the Muriel Cigar Girl, has also made exercise videos. Ink smudged at the "y" of you. Minor surface creases and striations (most not evident head on). Black mark at upper left blank edge. Fine condition.
