The press agent writes to John Willis, Editor of Theatre World, thanking him for remembering her birthday
Autograph letter signed: "Susan", in black ink, 1 page, 8½x7¼. Included is the original mailing envelope. April 22, 1977. New York City, New York. In full: "Dear John - Since 21st January 1977 I have been intending to write you to say you're extraordinary - [illegible] - it's end of April + I'm still writing...What a sweetheart you are to always remember my day. I treasure that - and you -". Susan Bloch (1940-1982) was a Broadway press agent, doing press for several Broadway plays, including The Country Wife (1965), The Time of Your Life (1969), A Taste of Honey (1981), and André Heller's Wonderhouse (1991). She also formed a press company titled Susan Bloch & Company. John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Normal mailing folds. Corners slightly worn. Light surface creases.
