SUSAN STEVENS
The actress sends a requested photograph to John Willis, Editor of Theatre World
Autograph letter signed: "Susan Stevens", in black ink, 5½x8½. New York City, New York. April 4, 1984. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis - You wrote to me requesting a current picture, 8x10 glossy, in October when I was doing Brass Birds Don't Sing. I apologize for taking so long to reply [items not included]. I've just finished playing Eva Braun in Joan Schenka's The Last of Hitler at Theatre for the New City. Cordially". Actress Susan Stevens began her career off Broadway, being nominated for a Drama Desk Award for The Price of Genius (1979). She is better known for lending her voice to several films and video games, including Man Trouble (1992), The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars (1998), and Kingdom Hearts II (2005). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Paper clip crease on top margin. Corners slightly worn and creased. Toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
