SUSANNA FRAZER
A letter to John Willis, Editor of Theatre World, sending requested photographs for his publication
Autograph letter signed: "Susanna Frazer", in black ink, 1 page, 6¼x9¼. August 2, 1983. In full: "Dear Mr. Willis, Enclosed are picture and biography [items not included]. (Please feel free to chop off name at bottom of picture if you prefer - I didn't have any without names). Larry Habbell of Old Friends and Roomates will send in a cast picture. (I've also enclosed some info on A Doll House and some pictures if you can use [items not included]). Thanks again and best to you". Susanna Frazer debuted on Broadway in Stepping Out (1987), followed by The Nerd. Her Off-Broadway credits are far more numerous, including appearances in Toulouse Lautrec, The Enchanted and 5th of July. Her regional performances include such classics as The Glass Menagerie, A Doll's House and A Midsummer Night's Dream. She had directed many regional and university stage productions, winning Brooklyn College's Joel Zwick Award for Outstanding Direction. She made two appearances on TV's Law & Order. Her feature film work included the role of a ballet teacher in Uptown Girls (2003), and is cast as a grandmother in 95 Decibels (2013). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Large crease on left margin. Light surface creases. Otherwise, fine condition.
