SYDNEY BIDDLE BARROWS
Signed photo of the "Mayflower Madam"
Photograph signed: "Sydney/Biddle/Barrows". B/w, 7¾x9½. A Mayflower descendent from the elite Biddle family of Philadelphia, Sydney Biddle Barrows pursued a career in the fashion industry before founding a more lucrative enterprise, Cachet, an "escort" service catering to wealthy clients. Cachet offered elegant service, and Barrows treated her "girls" with respect. The company prospered from 1979-1984, when the New York police shut it down. Barrows pled guilty to promoting prostitution. Her autobiography, Mayflower Madam, has been translated into seven languages. Lightly creased, not evident head on. Fine condition.
