took London by storm with The Wild Irish Girl (1806), a paean of
praise to Ireland. She became the companion of the Marquess of Abercorn, who in
1812 arranged her marriage to a surgeon, Sir Thomas Charles
Morgan. As a married woman she continued to produce verses, essays and
novels, including O'Donnel (1814) - considered her best novel - and
France (1817), a breezy, journalistic survey of French society and
politics which drew criticism for its praise of the French revolution. Affixed
clipping torn on right margin. Toned. Multiple folds. Light surface creases. Ink
stamp. Slight smudges on some lettering, but clearly legible. Otherwise, fine
condition.
