'O'Donnel'./Published by James Fraser 215 Regent Street London." Ango-Irish
novelist Sydney Morgan (1781-1859) took London by storm with The Wild Irish
Girl (1806), a paean of praise to Ireland. She became the companion of
the Marquess of Abercorn, who in 1812 arranged her marriage to a
surgeon, Sir Thomas Charles Morgan. As a married woman she continued to
produce verses, essays and novels, including O'Donnel (1814) -
considered her best novel - and France (1817), a breezy, journalistic
survey of French society and politics which drew criticism for its praise of the
French revolution. Horizontal fold. Toned, esp. on outer margins. Nicked in
lower left corner. Corners lightly worn. Slightly soiled. Otherwise, fine
condition.
