SYLVESTER STALLONE This typed letter is signed by the iconic actor in ink Typed Letter Signed: "S S", 1p, 7¼x10½. On personal letterhead, but with printed note at bottom that the letter was paid for and authorized by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Miami, Florida, 1998 June 20. To Shirley MacLaine, c/o Dale C. Olson & Associates, Los Angeles, California. In full: "Jennifer and I would like to extend a personal invitation to you to join us in co-hosting President Clinton and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) for a fundraising event Thursday, July 9, at our home, 100 SE 32nd Road in Miami. A cocktail reception will precede the dinner. Attached is a DCCC fact sheet [not included] on the particulars of the evening. Please note that corporate funds may be used for this event. It will be a wonderful function. I hope you will be able to personally attend and participate." SYLVESTER STALLONE (b. 1946) made his film debut in 1969, eventually becoming one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. His first big break was in 1970's No Place to Hide, which was re-edited as Rebel years later to take advantage of Stallone's new-found fame. In 1974, he appeared alongside Henry Winkler and Perry King in The Lords of Flatbush. Stallone wrote and starred in the iconic boxing film Rocky (1978), which won three Oscars and spawned numerous sequels. Incredibly, "Sly" wrote the rough script in just three days! In 1982, he debuted his character Rambo in First Blood (1982), a violent film featuring a Vietnam War veteran that also led to several sequels. These action film franchises have defined his career and he has embraced this typecast, starring in other action movies like Judge Dredd (1995) and Demolition Man (1993). In 2010, Stallone debuted another film franchise with The Expendables. The titular group of mercenaries is portrayed by a group of some of the most recognizable action film stars ever, including Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren. Mentioned in the letter but not signing is JENNIFER FLAVIN-STALLONE, mother of Sly's three children, who promotes her own line of skin care products on the Home Shopping Network. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
